A midsummer fling

Sometimes I feel that way about a summer splurge or two (or five...) No, not boys. Fashion! The perfect summer dress or a traffic-stopping pair of heels. Some how the relationship I have with my summer wardrobe feels more fleeting - the billowy fabric and bold prints that come out to play during warmer weather entice me to sweep them up and take them home with me. Our days and nights together sizzle and spark as we enjoy the summer together. But I know that our carefree time together will be short, and then I'll pack them away until next year.

Take a peek at a few of our featured new arrivals!

Name our new store and win $100 cash!

It might be a man's world according to James Brown... but that hasn't been true in the world of consignment. Finders Keepers is one of the few consignment companies that markets menswear. Our mens department has enjoyed a consistent influx of designer and contemporary menswear and essentials, and we wanna show it off! We're opening a new location - right next door to our Boutique in Decatur - to showcase and expand our high-end consignment selection.

Here's where you come in: We need a name for this new addition to the Finders Keepers family. Help us take this new store in the direction that best serves Atlanta's savvy, stylish men. It's easy: just comment on this blog post with your suggestion (don't forget to include a way to contact you) or email us directly at casey.kallenberg@fkconsign.com. If we choose your idea for our new name, we'll give you $100 cash and you'll be featured on our blogs.

We will accept submissions now through midnight this Wednesday, May 11th. So get your creativity on and show us what you've got!

WOW! Thanks, Inga!

Shout-outs in the blogger world always make my day. So when Finders Keepers customer Inga O. sent me this email, I felt *amazing!* Check out what Inga had to say:

I wanted to share that I wrote a post that mentions Finders Keepers. I'm doing a shoe challenge and part of it is sharing the complete outfit. I love the Finders Keepers stores and how you also give back 2+ times a year! Please find the link below. Sincerely, Inga O http://ingao.wordpress.com/2011/03/07/my-fuzzy-black-white-shoes-at-the-gas-station/

Thank you, Inga!

A sea of blue... and budget

I've got beach on the brain. I haven't seen the ocean in two years, and I'm going through total withdrawl. So when Jamilla sent her looks of the week: three fantabulous outfits that echoed my current sentiment for that endless, lazy blue, I couldn't help but scroll through discount travel websites for deals on airfare to somewhere with white sand beaches and salty air. Sadly, even those aren't in this new-mom's budget. But what is ALWAYS in my budget: resale therapy at Finders Keepers Consignment Stores! :)

Outfit with the multi-color scarf: Scarf: $15, Shirt (black and white, made to look like a jacket) : Folette, Medium, $20, Dress: Blueberry, Forever 21, Medium, $16

Outfit with necklace: Shirt: Blue, Worthington, Large, $12, Skirt: Green, size 6, $15

Outfit with belt: Dress: Blue, Ark & Co., Medium, $30, Belt: Green and blue, J Crew, $10

How can 50 cents change the future?

Shop with any Finders Keepers Store this Earth Day weekend (April 22nd + 23rd only) and help your world and refugees from all over the globe that now call Atlanta home. Residents of our refugee community often can't afford tampons or sanitary pads, and simply go without. Just bring in a package of tampons or sanitary pads for residents of Atlanta's refugee community and we'll take 10% off of your total purchase at any of our stores on April 22nd and 23rd.

What if 50 cents could change the future? For girls in developing countries who miss a week of school each month during menstruation, 50 cents buys a month of sanitary supplies and an uninterrupted education. 50 Cents Period, a joint project of Just Cause, Inc., and the LaVya Initiative, represents a worldwide network of women dedicated to creating more options for girls by providing supplies, facilities and education related to menstruation. The solution is simple; the impact lasts a lifetime. (from http://www.50centsperiod.com/)

Bag Sale #1

The Finders Keepers Bag Sale is easily one of the biggest semi-annual events of the year for our stores. And this season, we had saved so much merchandise for the bag sale - that we decided to have two! Our first bag sale was a huge success, and raised $1890 for Refugee Resettlement and Immigration Services of Atlanta. Our customers rock!!

Q+A with Bonnie Kallenberg

Bonnie Kallenberg, owner of Finders Keepers Consignment Stores, gets asked a lot of questions. She was recently asked: "What's the most unusual thing anyone has ever purchased in one of your stores?" Here's her answer:

Tyler Perry, a movie producer, lives and films movies and television shows all around Atlanta so we have his set designers in the stores often. The most memorable purchase of theirs was a large amount of dressy and designer clothing, shoes and accessories to use in the closet scene of “Diary of a Mad Black Woman”. The YouTube link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJKkCkNjTZQ where you can see the actors trash a closet full of clothing from Finders Keepers about 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the clip!

Look of the Week

Here at Finders Keepers Fashions we are ready for spring! This week of lovely weather is like gasoline on the flame - winter: it's time to take a hike! Jamilla's look of the week is definitely a clear indicator that she's ready for warmer weather. If it's still too chilly to go strapless, consider tossing on a neutral tone boyfriend blazer or denim jacket and a pair of boots! Still not covered up enough? Try a pair of fun tights to add a fun touch and to keep your legs warm.

p.s. WINTER CLEARANCE HAS BEGUN! All winter merchandise at Finders Keepers Fashions is now 1/2 off the original price!

Belt - Axcess, $4.00
Dress - size large, $15.00
Necklace - $7.00

The Rail Arts District Studio Cruise Event is this Saturday!

We're so excited about the upcoming Rail Arts District Studio Cruise. Local artists and musicians will showcase their work and talent at small businesses in Avondale Estates and Decatur this Saturday, February 12th. And we're even more excited that our Furnishings location is going to be a venue for this year's event! One of the girls from our Boutique location - Meghann - will be showing her artwork alongside fellow student Max from 11am to 7pm. Meghann recently completed a very competitive summer intensive art program at NYU. Check out pictures of their artwork and the official promo flier below, as well as: http://www.railartsdistrict.com/ for more information.
